Bekaert announces intent to reorganize activities in Wetteren

Due to challenging market conditions, Bekaert today announced its intention to reorganize activities at the Bekintex site in Wetteren, Belgium. In addition to a reduction in the workforce, the production platform for micro heating cables would be relocated to another Belgian site.

Bekaert informed the special works council of its intentions this morning and is organizing information sessions for all employees in the affected departments. The implementation of this plan would have a direct impact on 61 jobs.

Bekaert must adjust its activities to the economic reality. The management gives priority to the personal impact of this intention on its employees. In line with the Renault Law, Bekaert will shortly start discussions with the social partners.

About Bekintex

The Bekintex site in Wetteren is one of Bekaert's four production sites in Belgium. Bekaert produces various high-tech products there, including solutions for antistatic and heat-resistant textiles, solutions for the production of green hydrogen, and heating cables for car seat heating. Approximately 140 people work at the site.
