Bekaert Lipetsk (Russia) announces its intention to expand

Today, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF '21), in the presence of Mr Artamonov Igor Georgievich, Governor of the Lipetsk region, and Mr Koen Groothaert, Vice-President Bekaert Operations Rubber Reinforcement ERMEA, an agreement was signed on the new expansion plans for the Bekaert Lipetsk plant, including a new production line (bead wire) and the expansion of the current tire cord manufacturing capacity".

The Bekaert Lipetsk plant opened in 2010 and produces steel cord for the tire industry and Dramix® fibers for construction markets. The installation of a bead wire line will allow to produce the full range of products for the reinforcement of tires. The total amount of declared investments is more than 1.7 billion rubles, and 80 new jobs will be created. Production start of the plant extension is planned for the first half of 2022.

This expansion will help the Bekaert Lipetsk team to continue to deliver superior value to their customers and to contribute to the customers’ growth ambitions in the region and the wider CIS, as well as to become an export platform to the European region.
