Lightening the load with Flexisteel® elevator cables

Conventional elevator cables bring many challenges. Climate change is placing the industry under increased pressure to find more sustainable solutions for energy usage. Maintenance interventions mean unnecessary downtime and costs. For modernization jobs, elevator shafts in old buildings have significantly less space, which adds further challenges for safety and accessibility. So, how do you balance the need for modernization and increased sustainability of hoist ropes with strength and safety compliance? The solution: Flexisteel® hoist rope.

Efficiency and safety, elevated

Sustainable, space-saving, and highly durable, Flexisteel® excels with a rope diameter of only 6.5 mm. The lightweight, coated traction elevator rope offers a reduced permanent stretch and outstanding fatigue resistance to provide outstanding safety and durability. Designed for space-efficiency, Flexisteel® uses smaller sheaves, saving space for larger elevator cabins. Passengers will enjoy a more comfortable elevator ride with less downtime. Due to the increased traction, the elevator construction is lighter and consumes much less energy, reducing operational costs. Whether part of a modernization project or a new installation, Flexisteel® can be used in a wide range of markets and applications.

A smarter, stronger solution

Benefit from increased traction capabilities with a smarter, safer elevator cable architecture that is more lightweight. Engineered with outstanding strength and patented technology, Flexisteel® cables offer a minimum breaking load of 28 kN. The elastomer coating of Flexisteel® wire ropes has a higher friction factor compared to conventional steel ropes and can run on smaller traction sheaves and deflection pulleys.

Elevating more with less

Create a spacious ride with greater comfort – but do it with less. Thanks to the small diameter and high fatigue resistance of Flexisteel® wire ropes, you can design elevators with traction sheaves as compact as 120mm in diameter. Give passengers more space in the elevator car and reduce the pit depth of your elevator shaft.

Cut costs and reduce maintenance

Minimize costly downtime and maintenance repairs with high tensile, high-engineered advanced steel cords that have reduced permanent stretch and elongation. This  reduces the number of cables needed, cutting energy consumption and cost. With no lubrication needed for Flexisteel®, maintenance costs and unnecessary downtime are reduced.
